Good Bye Grade Three

This year was the best year of our lives. This year we did lots of cool things. We went to the Allandale Center to swim. We swam there three times on Thursdays. Elissa’s favourite part was swinging on the rope and falling into the water. We also went on a field trip to an indoor farm. Pheonix’s all-time favourite part was when we went to see the chickens. Our favourite field trip was going to the Simcoe Museum to learn about pioneers. Avery really liked going to the pioneer school. Another thing that we liked was our toboggan party. We had hot chocolate and it was really delicious. This year we had EQAO. Riley and Breanna thought that EQAO was fun. We got gum and goldfish to eat when we were doing our testing. For the Christmas play our class and Miss. Cavers class played ‘Has Anybody Seen Santa’ on xylophones. In June our class made commercials about pioneer life. Jaelynn’s group made a commercial about pioneer children’s chores. We are sad to leave grade 3 but we are really excited to go to grade 4!

Grade 3 Swimming Lessons

The Willow Landing Elamentery grade 3 students had an awesome swim in the Swim To Survive program. It was a bumpy trip to the Allandale Center but when we got there the water was shimering, it was a beautiful site. When we got dressed we were split into our swimming groups. There were the blue, green and yellow groups.   Then our group leaders told us what the program was about. They said we had to roll into the water, tread water for 1 minute and swim 2 lenghts of the pool.

Now we will tell you some of our classmate’s favourite parts.

By the large pool there were diving boards . We saw Pheonix jumping off the diving board alot.

Tyler said he realy liked  rolling into the water. He would do it all day if he could. Lucas told us reporters that he loved going in the warm, small pool.

Avery loved to make whirl pools in the small pool at free time.

There was a really fun rope that we got to swing off.  Elissa and Breanna said that was there favourite part.

We had an incredible swim but it was soon time to go.  Everybody loved it including us.  I hope we get to do it next year.

Our Class Trip

In the beginning of October, our class went to a farm fair in Alliston.  We first went to the sheep exhibit.  We learned that there are lots of different breeds of sheep.  We also learned that female sheep are called ewe.  Then we went to the wheat farmer.  We learned that wheat is in honey nut cheerios.  Wheat is in many foods like bread.  Next we went to the bee farmer.  We learned if honey bees sting you, they die.  Smoke helps calm the bees so the farmer can get the honey from the hive.  After we went to the pig farmer.  We learned that a female pig is called a sow.  A male pig is called a boar.  After that we went to the maple syrup farmer.  Canada makes the most maple syrup in the world.  Maple syrup needs alot of tubes to be made.  Once we were done at the maple syrup farmer we went to the chicken farmer.  Chickens lay about 340 eggs a year!  Chickens are very bad pets.  In the middle of the day we saw the fruits and vegetables farmer.  We learned that a pumpkin is a fruit.  Banana squash are very big.  Towards the end of the day we went to the cows.  A cow can drink a tub full of water a day.  Then we did a survey about how much a cow weighs.  Finally, we watched a farmer shear a sheep while we ate a free apple.  That was an unforgetable farm trip!
